Hello there, I’m Isabella, the heart behind www.EsperanzaNicaraguense.org, and I want to share a bit of my story with you.

Born and raised in the vibrant city of Miami Beach to a Nicaraguan immigrant mother and a Jewish father, I’m currently navigating my way through 12th grade at Ransom Everglades High School in Coconut Grove, Florida.

The turning point in my life happened in 2021 when I embarked on my first journey to Nicaragua. I crisscrossed the country, from bustling urban centers to the serene rural landscapes near Chinandega, Puerto Corinto,  visiting towns like Masaya, Granada, Rivas, Tola, and San Juan del Sur. What I encountered was beyond what I had anticipated – a stark reality of orphaned and underprivileged children living in heartbreaking conditions.

While I expected poverty, witnessing the magnitude of homelessness and abandonment among children struck a chord within me. Basic necessities like food, clothes, shelter, and water were luxuries for many of these young souls. Returning to my comfortable life in Miami, I couldn’t shake off the stark contrast between my reality and theirs. It was a wake-up call – a realization that I indeed lived in a bubble, shielded from the struggles faced by these children in Nicaragua.  I needed to make a difference.

Many of these children, facing extreme poverty and often orphaned, lacked access to education. This realization ignited a fire within me, prompting me to ask myself the hard questions. How could these children go to school without the basics – clothes and food? Does anyone care? The answers were the catalyst for www.EsperanzaNicaraguense.org. Caring for children, witnessing their plight during a global pandemic tugged at my heartstrings. Walking through the streets of Port of Corinto, witnessing the living conditions of these families, was an unimaginable experience. I believe in hope, in a better life for the orphans and underprivileged children of Nicaragua.

Hence, I birthed www.EsperanzaNicaraguense.org – a platform with a mission to inspire progress, fight poverty, and halt illiteracy for the children of Nicaragua. Together, we can make a tangible difference. Even the smallest contributions can create a ripple effect, transforming a child’s life in unimaginable ways.

I invite you to step out of your bubble, to join me on this journey. Your support, whether big or small, can be a lifeline for these children. Let’s come together, break down barriers, and ensure these kids have a chance at a brighter, happier beginning. Because giving hope and putting a smile on a child’s face is motivation enough for me to keep moving forward.
